15-Point Guitar Setups
A setup brings together the adjustments that affect how a guitar feels and plays. I begin by assessing its playability and electronics. The process includes removing the old strings, cleaning the body and neck, caring for the fretboard, and polishing the frets. After fitting and tensioning new strings, I check the nut, saddles, neck relief, and string height. I also check for fret buzz. Where the instrument has the relevant parts, I adjust intonation and pickup height, balance the tremolo, and lubricate the nut slots. Electronics are cleaned when needed.
Restringing and Fretwork
I restring acoustic, electric, and bass guitars, including instruments with floating or double-locking tremolos. You can bring your preferred strings or ask about strings available from me. Let me know if your instrument has 12 strings or tied nylon strings when you call.
If worn or uneven frets make playing uncomfortable, I offer full and partial fret dressing, fret-end filing, polishing, and refretting. I can also check the nut and replace it when required.
Hardware and Body Repairs
Guitar hardware takes a lot of use. I can replace tuners, strap buttons, pickguards, and acoustic bridges. Body work includes crack repairs, paint touch-ups, and repainting. The work needed will depend on the guitar’s condition and whether replacement parts are required.
Pickups and Electronics
A faulty jack, noisy switch, or pickup issue can affect your sound. I offer pickup replacement and adjustment, cleaning for pots and switches, solder repairs, electrical fault diagnosis, and guitar rewiring. Tell me what you have noticed, even if the problem only happens occasionally.
